It is the mission of Central School as its faculty and staff deliver curriculum, instruction and assessment to build character by instilling in students the great virtues and to give students the opportunity to themselves confess the character which they are acquiring in the classroom, in chapel, in sports, extra-curricular actives and on field trips. Pursuant to the mission, the curriculum of Central School focuses on three languages: languages of the vernacular, which include English and courses associated with it such as social studies and literature and the foreign language being offered; languages of mathematics, which include arithmetic, algebra, geometry, advanced mathematics and science; and languages of the arts, including music and portions of the visual arts. As students progress from grade level to grade level and acquire more of these languages, they will develop skills commensurate with the traditional trivium: grammar (learning the basic skills of the languages and how they function), dialectic (logical and rational thinking) and rhetoric (the ability to convincingly write and articulate, i.e. confess, the knowledge and understanding which students have acquired). It is expected that faculty, staff, students and parents embrace the mission of Central School and strive to live it out by being dedicated, disciplined, studious, courteous and respectful. All that we do at Central School flows out of the purposes and goals of our mission.
