Admission and Fees

Grades are based solely on percentage.

The percentage grading scale is as follows:

            A = 95-100%  Excellent

            B = 88-94%    Above Average

            C = 78-87%    Average

            D = 70-77%    Passing

            F = 00-69%     Failing

Six-Weeks Grades

            Six weeks grades are determined by averaging all grades - participation, quizzes, exams, projects or other assessable activities - according to the classroom grading policy stated in writing at the beginning of each year.

Semester Grades

            Semester grades are determined by adding the three six-weeks grades and the semester exam and dividing by four (4).

Final Grades

            Final grades are determined by dividing by two the two semester grades.

High-School Credit

            To earn one credit in a high-school course, the student must pass both semesters with a 70% or better.  Students who make less than 70% in one semester but 70% or better in the other semester of a course will receive no credit for the semester failed but a credit of 0.5 for the semester passed.  Since the academic challenge of the second semester of a course is generally greater than that of the first, students failing the first semester will not be allowed to enroll in that course in the second semester; in extenuating circumstances and if the student’s failing grade is between a 63% and a 69%, an appeal either by the teacher or the parents can be made to the principal or his designee.  If the appeal is granted and if the student makes a 77% or higher in the second semester, the student will receive a credit of 1.0 for the course.

Recording of Grades

            Grades should be recorded as percentages on all work in the grade book and on grade sheets.  Letter grades and percent grades are to be recorded on report cards, for example, A/97, and the grade ledger for the office.
